Ihovbor 450MW Gas Turbine Power Plant
Project Description/Scope:
The project involves the completion of 4 x 112.5 MW Gas Turbine Power Plant that is operated in open cycle mode only and supplies electric power to the National Grid located at Ihovbor in Edo State. The plant is one of the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) initiated by the Federal Government in 2005 to alleviate the power problems in the Nation. The construction of the plant commenced in March 2006 and following a number of delays, Messrs Oska~Jo & Partners Ltd/Scott Wilson Plc. (now URS Corporation) were awarded the contract in 2011 to supervise the project through to completion.
The plant has four Gas Turbine Generating Units, each capable of producing 112.5 MW. A total of 450MW is expected from the station after commissioning. It is a G.E. Frame 9E Simple Cycle Operation plant with provision for future conversion into Combined Cycle.
