Olorunsogo 335 MW Simple Cycle Power Plant
Project Description:
The concept of this project came up in the year 2002 when President Obasanjo’s Administration planned to increase the Electric Power Capacity of the Nation to 10,000 MW to meet the ever increasing power demand of the Nation.
The project which is located at Olorunsogo about 17 KM to Papalanto in Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State required boosting to stabilize electricity power supply in the country within the shortest possible time. The construction works commenced on 28th November 2005 after completion of Design Review meetings. Also, as construction was going on, a number of Factory Acceptance Tests tours were made to China to ascertain the viability and integrity of the Turbines and Main Transformers for the Plant.
The contract for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of the Power Plant was awarded to SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation of China under the supervision of Oska~Jo & Partners Ltd/Scott Wilson Plc. (now URS Corporation).

The design, procurement, supply and construction of 335 MW Gas Turbines comprising of 8Nos x 42 MW. single shaft heavy duty model PG6581B (Frame 6 type) manufactured by Nanjin Turbine Company of China under GE license.
Construction of 330kV Switchyard with 4 Main Transformers (105MVA) and control room.
Project Finance:
The project was sponsored under a special arrangement of 35% direct payment by the Federal Government of Nigeria and 65% bilateral credit facility from the Export Import Bank of China.
